Leute Machen kleider…or folks who make clothes (or are creative in any other way)
This magazine is by far my favorite! Why? Most DIY magazines are the same and excuse me for saying so, ………old fashioned and really boring.
Not CUT! They didn’t take the easy road; this was a whole other level of crafting.
Founded in 2009 by three girls, CUT was the first DIY magazine in Germany. They stood out because every 34-page edit was completely DIY, from cover to back. All content was handmade by a small team of crafty spirits. Using high quality, thick paper they threw all DIY standards overboard.
Because of time consuming production CUT is a bi annual magazine. For me it was something to look forward to. Every issue was worth waiting for though and worth rereading.
So what is it about? Except cool photography, use of crazy graphics, free patterns and using one theme every issue?
Here’s a summary of some productions I loved very much:
But…It’s sad but true; all good things come to an end or a pause…
While scrolling their website to do some background research I found out that CUT was taking a break from their paper magazine! Nooooo! They will continue their craft-journey online. Competitive pressure got the team re-think the current shape and form of CUT. Quality cannot be a consession but form can be: So for now online but I keep my hopes high because I firmly believe that quality always survives.
I salute you dear CUT-makers with your out of the box crafty minds! Till then I treasure the issues I own and flip through the pages when I need inspiration. Tschüss!
