As I’m not a perfect pattern maker I use patterns from various magazines. Sometimes I feel like ,,I’m not Doing It Yourself” and that a blogpost like this one has no purpose here on my blog because I just copy the patterns.
But then… I started thinking about all the times that I tweaked existing patterns to make it more fitting and my style. Or what about adding little details like embroidery, embellishments or using interesting different fabrics. So actually, I am Doing it Myself ha!
After this long introduction, today I will share this summer top with dots and ruffled sleeves (I LOVE ruffled sleeves!) The original can be find in the March-April edition of La Maison Victor. I show you how you can style this top. I also did a similar blogpost in November for a summer blouse made with Burda
For this top, I chose a light crêpe fabric with black dots sprinkled all over. I love the ruffled details in the front and the ruffled sleeves. The pattern used had more modest sleeves and shows more shoulder but…my upper arms are not my favorite body parts sooo I added an extra layer of a different material and color to cover it up a bit. Win-win! The back is fastened with a cute golden button and because I’ve started with embroidery lessons this was a good opportunity to practice. This golden embroidered pineapple gives this top that extra summer feeling! And it’s cute 😉
With temperatures rising I don’t want to wear a lot of layers. I simply paired the top with my white ripped jeans (have that one 10 years already!) and summer sandals. Happy Summer!
